Aloha, and welcome to the website of the Lawful Hawaiian Government. Our government, inspired by the example of our ancestors, motivated by the cause of truth and justice, is actively engaged in the process of reclaiming the right to be recognized as the lawful government of Hawai’i, thereby restoring the inherent human right of self-determination to the citizens of Hawai’i. This process of reinstating the former inherent sovereignty is in fact a movement of liberation from the most powerful nation in the history of our planet. Despite the odds, we resolve to honor our ancestors, to embrace our responsibilities as kanaka maoli, as citizens of Hawai’i, as parents and guardians of our island nation. Our method is founded on fundamental principles of non-violence, international law and the obligation set forth in the United States Public Law 103 – 150.
Brief history
Hawai’i was a recognized independent nation prior to January 17, 1893. On that day, the nation and government was illegally overthrown by the United States. Since illegal governments have assumed control over Hawaii under the direct guidance of the United States government. But, on March 13, 1999 the kanaka maoli people (Hawaiians) reinstated a government pro tempore and continue to implement steps in accordance to international law and the reinstated laws of the Hawaiian government to reclaim their sovereign independent status.
Kahoolawe
Reclamation of the Island of Kahoolawe: On July 31, 2006, the reinstated Hawaiian Government authorized the reclamation of the lands that belong to the former inherent sovereignty —the Hawaiian government. This action was taken through the proper authorization issued by the Reinstated Hawaiian Government. The Reinstated Hawaiian Government continues to appear in the Maui District Court, in Wailuku.
Kanaka Bill
The alternative to the “Akaka Bill”. The essence of the Kanaka Bill is to pave the way to grant all Kanaka Maoli the right to participate in the upcoming 2007 elections.
