Information security

We restrict access to personal information to Lawful Hawaiian Government employees, volunteers, contractors and agents who need to know that information in order to operate, develop or improve our services. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations and may be subject to discipline, including termination and criminal prosecution, if they fail to meet these obligations.

Information we collect and how we use it

Lawful Hawaiian Government collects no personal information about you when you visit our website unless you choose to provide this information to us. In order to provide a useful website and help us on our mission, we may collect the following types of information:

  • Information you provide – When you submit information through our mailing list or registration forms we ask you for personal information to help us identify you and provide our services to you. We may also use certain pieces of aggregated, non-personal information, such as the number of people who have registered through our website for marketing purposes. Such information does not identify you individually.
  • Communications – When you send email or other communications to Lawful Hawaiian Government, we may retain those communications in order to process your inquiries, respond to your requests and improve our service.
  • Cookies – When you visit Lawful Hawaiian Government, we send one or more cookies—a small file containing a string of characters — to your computer that uniquely identifies your web browser. We use cookies to improve use of the website by storing user preferences and tracking user trends.
  • Log information – When you access Lawful Hawaiian Government, our server automatically records information that your browser sends when you visit, such as type of web browser, network location and IP address, time of visit, time spent on site, and the website that referred you. Visitors with Javascript enabled are also tracked using Google Analytics, which collects and shares similar information with Google. To read Google’s own Privacy Policy visit: google.com/privacypolicy.html. We use this information to improve our website and to help us get in touch with those who might want to know about us.
